This morning journey to the small island of Kumbalangi for a glimpse into the lives of the local villagers. Return to the hotel to freshen up before attending an evening performance of traditional Kathakali dance.

Kochi – Alleppey
Your Kochi city tour includes visits to the old Jewish synagogue, the mythological murals of Mattancherry Palace, and the Church of St Francis to see the tombstone of Vasco de Gama. Transfer to the local jetty to board your houseboat for a cruise on the backwaters of Alleppey where you spend the night.

Kumarakom
Disembark and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore. Perhaps enjoy an Ayurveda treatment, the ancient science of holistic healing for which Kerala is renowned.

Kumarakom
For those who want to rise early this morning there is an included bird watching tour at Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. Set within lush acres of woodland, become acquainted with the variety of migratory birds that flock in their thousands from the Himalayas or as far afield as Siberia. Return to the hotel for breakfast. The remainder of the day is free to enjoy the beautiful backwater environment.
