NAGASAKI - SHIMABARA - MATSUSHIMA

After breakfast, visit Nagasaki Peace Park, which commemorates the atomic explosion on 9 August 1945 that contributed to the end of the Pacific War. Thereafter, take a drive to Shimabara. 1st stop: a jaunt to the city’s foremost attraction, Shimabara Castle. For lunch, tuck into a Shimabara guzouni, a signature cuisine with rice cake soup topped with vegetables and bits of meat and fish. After lunch, proceed to Kuninotsu Port for a wild dolphin watch cruise. While this activity is subject to weather conditions, wild dolphin watching is available most of the time as the whereabouts of dolphin are tracked prior to the cruise. Thereafter, travel to Matsushima. This evening, savour a sumptuous seafood kaiseki dinner with dancing abalone, where a live abalone is cooked in its shell. Wrap up the day with a relaxing hot spring bath.

Keep a look out for the shallow waters around the island which is said to possess a geological phenomenon. Thereafter, proceed to Kirishima and visit Sekino-o Waterfalls. This evening, enjoy a delicious Kurobuta shabu shabu dinner that features premium, melt-in-the-mouth Kurobuta pork before donning a traditional yukata to enjoy a hot sulphur water bath at your onsen resort.

KIRISHIMA - TAKACHIHO - MT ASO

After breakfast, stop by Kuma Shochu Museum, to learn about the process of making shochu. Next, enjoy Seiwa Bunraku, a Japanese puppet play which is a form of traditional rural performing arts that represents Kumamoto prefecture. Thereafter, visit Takachiho Gorge, a narrow chasm cut through the rock by Gokase River. Partway along the gorge, you will see the gorgeous 17-metre-high Minainotaki Waterfall cascading down to the river below. Stroll along the trails to admire the beautiful scenery and sight of the waterfall.

Visit to Takachiho Gorge requires a 30-minute walk from the carpark entrance on uneven stone paths and steps.

MT ASO - OITA - YUFUIN - BEPPU

After breakfast, take a morning walk across Kokonoe "Yume" Grand Suspension Bridge. Thereafter, proceed to Yufuin and enjoy its picturesque rural beauty. Then, a jaunt to the renowned Beppu awaits. Visit Umi-jigoku, a pond of boiling blue water. This evening, pamper yourself with a traditional hot spring bath at an onsen resort in Beppu.

BEPPU - KITSUKI - FUKUOKA
